How can Mindfulness help us?

Ok so please don’t be put off by the title. I know this is a word banded about a lot these days but let’s look at what it actually means. Basically, it involves becoming more aware of the present moment which can help us to enjoy the world around us more. Mindfulness is claimed to have a range of benefits such as a decrease in stress, treat heart disease, lower blood pressure, reduce chronic pain, improve sleep, and alleviate gastrointestinal difficulties.
A recent study into the benefits of mindfulness showed brain processing speed was significantly improved, working memory was also boosted, emotional control was elevated, and the group also had less feelings of worry, all compared to the group that served as the control.
