Roche has today released news of a new therapy, Ocrelizumab, which could be the first effective treatment to slow progression of the primary progressive form of the disease. On Saturday 25th July a Car Treasure Hunt organised by the Leo Club of Guernsey, to raise funds for the MS society, was held and proved a huge success. A grand total of £1073.60 was raised and all the money has been donated to the MS Society Guernsey branch. On Sunday April 26 there was an open garden at Le Vauquidor Manor, courtesy of Mr and Mrs Tonkinson the owners and Floral Guernsey. Despite somewhat grey and cold conditions £2,000 was raised for the Tonkinson’s chosen charity – the Guernsey MS Society. Grateful thanks to Mr and Mrs Tonkinson and their helpers and to Floral Guernsey for coordinating the event.
The second Guernsey MS Rowathon (30k format) took place very successfully on Sunday, April 19. 12 teams of six people participated – a mix of serious rowers, gym enthusiasts and good-hearted people, willing to have a go on the machine in order to raise funds for MS. 72 competitors packed into the concourse to participate and egg each other on.
