Open Garden
Another successful year at the Rocquaine Regatta. However, it was not just a great day at the Regatta as the Guernsey MS Society would like to thank Jane and Mike Stonebridge  for opening up their beautiful garden. They offered teas, coffee or cold drinks and a wonderful supply of a gorgeous cholce of cake.  Their garden has certainly been a labour of love over the past 26 years!   They…

Stop MS
At the moment, there is no cure for MS. However, the good news is there is more research  being undertaken than ever before with new therapies being tried. Scientists have become closer to the point where MS could be, for many, under control, and delaying the onset of further disability.  Research needs to be and is being carried out in three ways to prevent MS. Cladribine tablets
Guernsey has just approved the use of Cladribine (Mavenclad) for people with highly active MS. Cladribine works by killing certain types of cells made by your immune system.  These cells would normally attack viruses and bacteria that enter the body. However, in MS these cells attack the myelin around the nerves in the brain or spinal cord.  Cladribine therefore has the result of reducing the…

Lieutenant's Charity Fete
Well, after such a wet Friday night we were left wondering if the Lieutenant’s Charity Fete was to be a wash out.  However, thankfully the rain had stopped but it was replaced with a very strong wind! This made trying to put up a very large gazebo, which was also our first time, very interesting. I thought at one point we may do a Mary Poppin’s impersonation and take flight! Our stall was…

A healthy brain can replace damaged myelin however  for someone with MS, the disease progression interferes with this. Much research is being done to find a way to repair this myelin sheath for those living with MS. For more information please click the…

Drawing of Sean Connery
The term 'Wellness', in today's busy world, is regularly used but what can that mean for people with Multiple Sclerosis.   We know we need to exercise, as much as our bodies will allow.  However, there is also growing scientific research supporting the use of crafts, and the positive impact crafting can have on our wellness. Research has shown that crafting can have a positive impact on…
